An Interdisciplinary Professional Background
I am a relational psychotherapist with a Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy from La Salle University, and a Licensed Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (LAMFT) in Pennsylvania. I work with individuals and with couples/relationships.
In addition to extensive training in family and relational systems therapy, I am trained in Internal Family Systems, Level 1 with the IFS Institute. With IFS as a primary anchor, I incorporate components of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, somatic therapy, coherence therapy, and attachment-based, family/relational systems therapy.
My prior career in higher education was devoted to providing student-focused support along with academic advising and teaching, and connecting students to on- and off-campus resources. I served as Associate Director of the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program at Bryn Mawr College as well as Assistant Dean of Bryn Mawr’s Undergraduate College. I also taught at Bryn Mawr, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Rutgers.
For undergraduate studies I attended Wesleyan University where I was one of the first students to major in Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. I went on to earn a PhD (Rutgers University-New Brunswick) in Political Science with a focus on feminist & critical race theory and political economy. From this background, I bring a macro perspective to my work with clients, and bear in mind the socioeconomic and sociocultural contexts that create both opportunities as well as challenges and barriers in our daily lives.
I use she/her pronouns and my social locations include being a white, middle-class, cis-gendered lesbian, life partner, and parent.
